Join us for a thought-provoking panel-discussion "Digital Storytelling: The Intersection of Culture, Peace, and Security".
Speakers: Edgar Mannheim (Kalam Podcast), Omar Alshogre (Syrian Emergency Task Force) and Rasha Shaaban (Mind the Gap).
Moderation: Martina Berglund (Swedish Dialogue Institute MENA).
During the panel, you will hear from the speakers on how digital narratives - ranging from podcasts to media - can foster intercultural dialogue and amplify voices for peace across the Euro-Med region.
- Omar Alshogre: Omar is a public speaker and a human rights activist. He is currently the Director for Detainee Affairs at the Syrian Emergency Task Force. He is known for his efforts to raise awareness of human rights abuses in Syria and his personal experience of torture and starvation by the Syrian government during his three years of detention.
- Edgar Mannheimer: Edgar is the founder and host of the podcast Kalam, which focuses on Middle Eastern culture, history, and politics. Edgar has an extensive background as a journalist, having reported for outlets such as Sveriges Radio, Dagens Nyheter, and international media like The Independent, The Intercept, and NPR. He currently works part-time at the Swedish-Arabic news channel Alkompis.
- Rasha Shaban: Rasha is a local from Alexandria and Gothenburg. She is a feminist storytelling hunter, content producer, experimental cook, humour-lover, diversity advocate, network builder, very passionate project leader and DJ. In 2018, Rasha started Mind the Gap programme at the National Museums of World Culture to facilitate inclusion, equality, intercultural dialogue and active citizenship through digital storytelling, performing arts and music. We investigate how gaps in our lives and societies can bring us closer to each other.
The panel will be in English.
This event is organised at the initiative of the Swedish Dialogue Institute MENA in the framework of Celebrating Our Diversity Forum, hosted by the Anna Lindh Foundation Swedish network and Världskulturmuseerna.
