Explore the symbols of Día de Muertos, the Day of the Dead, through creativity and hands-on making.
In this workshop, we will explore the meaning and messages behind the Day of the Dead celebration by creating two different objects. Participants will decorate a skull inspired by traditional Mexican sugar skulls and a xoloitzcuintle, a Mexican dog with a thousand-year-old history, while learning about the traditions, symbols, and significance of this holiday.
The workshop is led by artist Mónica Gutiérrez Hernandez and educator Cicela Alvarado Mendez.
Children and adults aged 8 and up are warmly welcome!
